My fascination for female craftworks served as a starting point and inspiration for this piece. Beginning with textile instruction manuals with shapes of cross-stitches and various embroideries this piece ended up embodying the female attributes. It felt important to make visible the women who through history have carried out their craftworks along with the objects forming them. The comb, brush and curlers stand for the conventions associated with a “real” woman. The embroideries that served as a starting point were also included at the end to dress the objects and form a unity. Because this piece in the end came to be mostly about shapes, the small objects are regarded as separate individuals with their own sculptural qualities whereas the story of the woman becomes a bonus.
